International Blue Flag Status for Whitehaven Marina - June 2003

Facilities
Toilet and Washroom
Toilets & showers, both male and female, disabled toilets and showers, laundry & baby changing facilities are situated on the Bulwark Quay adjacent to the Marina. Access is gained through use of a pin number issued on arrival. These facilities are available to Marina users and Marina visitors and are open 24 hours per day.
Security
The Marina area is under 24 hour a day surveillance by CCTV monitored from the Sealock. Any Problems should be reported to the Harbour Office, Harbour Master or Sealock operator immediately.
Car Parking
There is limited parking available on the Bulwark Quay. Residents of the marina are issued with a swipe card whereas visitors may gain access by use of pin number issued on arrival.
This area is patrolled by parking wardens and thus please ensure that all vehicle registration numbers are registered with the Marina Office.
Harbour users who have moorings in the South Harbour have designated parking spaces in West Strand near the Beacon. Unauthorised parking on the Harbour side will subject offenders to be fined and in extreme cases, clamped or towed away.
Fuel
Marine diesel oil is available to all Harbour users at competitive rates.

The refuelling berth is situated on the Western end of the main Marina pontoon pier.
Sanitation and Waste Disposal
A sanitation recovery system is available on the Marina. For galley waste and normal onboard-generation waste, a skip is provided in the corral on Bulwark Quay close to the pontoon ramp. Please notify the Harbour Office beforehand if you wish to dispose of waste oils, land out-dated pyrotechnics or disused batteries.
No charge will be made for the disposal of these items.
Careening
The beach between Old New Quay and Old Quay is suitable for careening during periods of fair weather. The beach is firm sand with modest incline.

Do not attempt to lie aground between Old New Quay and the inner face or West Pier, The Harbour bed shifts and there are a number of large exposed stones.
Weather Forecasts
Marina weather forecast facsimiles covering Colwyn Bay to the Mull of Galloway, including the waters of the Isle of Man and twelve miles off shore, or indeed any specified UK Sea Area, can be consulted on the premises of the Harbour Office during normal opening times.
Berths
There are 155 Marina Berths, to be extended in 2004 to in excess of 200. The pontoon fingers can accept vessels of varying lengths up to 13 mtrs l.o.a. Larger vessels can be accommodated on the Marina on the 110-mtr walkway to the north side of the Marina when available.
Potable water and domestic electricity is laid on to all pontoons. A charge is made for electricity used by contract holders, visitors it is included, refer to Pricing Policy, water is included in with the contract / visitor rates.
Incoming vessels should contact the Harbour Office/Sealock on 01946 692435 or VHF Ch 12 for berthing instructions. Berths for short stay visitors will be made available as demand dictates. The Harbour Master will allocate berths for visiting vessels.
